The Local Government Association has published a new self assessment tool that is designed to help councils strengthen the relationships they have with older people and help them build ‘a good place to grow older’. The tool is designed to get older people involved in the process. Using the self-assessment tool provides: a process for all partners to work together and develop a jointly-owned approach; a way of assessing the current state of a place’s approach to promoting the independence and wellbeing of older people; and with repeated use, it allows places to chart their progress.
