The Greening Campaign: The community adaptation toolkithttp://www.greening-campaign.co.uk/TCAT/TCAT_Presentations.html The Greening Campaign was set up in response to the threat of global warming. It is an innovative idea to help motivate people to reduce their energy consumption and therefore lower their personal and community carbon footprint. The campaign joins individuals, groups, councils, schools and government together in a joint programme that is simple and very effective. The aim of this conference, held in London on 20 July 2010, was to: launch the Adaptation Toolkit; realise the vital role community has to play; link policy with action; begin to identify opportunities for business and community that adaptation offers; link different strands so policy is not written within a single silo; realise that government does not have the finance to achieve this alone; allow the ‘experts’ to develop knowledge and then guide and support local ‘action’; enhance knowledge transfer and research opportunities at local level. Presentations from the event are available online. |
