The World Business Council for Sustainable Development has published a business brief on ecosystem services, described as one of the great boom industries of the coming decades. The brief draws on ongoing work, and is designed as a key input to a global business agenda for action. The report argues that as scientific understanding of the value of ecosystems and biodiversity grow, so we see growing interest in pricing the services key ecosystems deliver, such as flood controls and rainfall regulation, creating the mechanisms whereby related payments can be made, and developing the businesses that will drive new forms of market value.
